We are dedicated to working with our community partners to pick up excess perishables from their commercial kitchens and quickly deliver these items to sites that prepare meals and serve the homeless and low-income individuals in the Athens Clarke County area. We have great plans and hope to expand and offer services in our other counties.
We are excited about our Opportunities Now program. We are trying a different approach to break the poverty cycle by focusing our efforts on those who are motivated to become self-sufficient.
Kids In Action at The Pencil School is located in Oglethorpe County and focuses on children 18 months to 12 years old. The staff is exceptional and highly credentialed, but most of all, are enthusiastic about offering the youngest community members a nurturing, stimulating and educationally focused environment.
Community Services:

Throughout our ten counties, our offices provide many services that lend a helping hand. Each county has a dedicated staff member who is available to assist those who have experienced a hardship in their lives by assessing both the need and the solution to getting them past the current situation.

One of our most successful and rewarding programs works with high school students who are identified as a high-risk for dropping out of school and entering the cycle of poverty.
